
Civil Protection of Nuevo León rescued several species during a fire in Santa Catarina, including a horse, a rooster, dogs, and cats. The animals affected by the incident were taken to the Animal Protection Mobile Clinic for assistance, following the fire at Industrias del Poniente and Mercado de Abastos in Santa Catarina.
"Civil Protection Unit Nuevo León responds to a report of a carpentry fire. Currently in the smoldering phase. Apparently, the animals are in good health after being attended to. The owners were the most worried as the smoke was intense."
Over the weekend, 216 fires in vacant lots were reported, leading the State Civil Protection to urge citizens to take preventive measures and follow recommendations to avoid fires that could spread given the weather conditions.
Among the recommendations to prevent fires, it is highlighted to avoid burning trash, throwing cigarette butts, littering, and starting bonfires. Additionally, three rescues were conducted in hills, prompting recommendations for those who hike, such as checking the weather forecast, carrying a first aid kit, and not using alternative routes without a certified guide.
"From our Emergency Operations Center, Civil Protection Nuevo León will remain in constant monitoring and will provide relevant updates. In case of any emergency, PC recommended calling 911."
The Civil Protection units worked in coordination with firefighters and municipal units in the fire of a lumberyard in Santa Catarina, which spread to a vacant lot, other businesses in the area, and nearby roofs, without causing any injuries.
